SILAGE SORGHUM
CF Dairy Delite: Medium - Early Season
CF Dairy Delite is the ultimate in high energy silage, developed for the dairyman and cattleman with quality in mind. It is ideally suited for double crop conditions because it matures fast when planted late. Extremely high grain to forage ratio and big heads, full of large grain on leafy 5 1/2 to 6 ft. stalks that stand until harvest. CF Dairy Delite is very drought resistant and recommended for dry land or irrigation. It makes excellent hay if cut prior to boot stage.
Note: Planted earlier may reduce plant height to 3 1/2 to 4 ft. and reduces tonnage per acre.
Planting Rates For Dairy Delite:
- Rows - 5 - 7#/ac
- Drilled/Broadcast - 30 - 35#/ac
- With Corn - 1 - 3#/ac
GRAIN SORGHUM
CF Red Bounty: Medium Season
Classed as medium, CF Red Bounty out yields most medium late hybrids. It has maximum disease resistance plus outstanding Bio-type "E" Greenbug protection. Fast emergence establishes early strong stands with superior stalk and root system. Semi-compact heads on medium height plants. Its' cherry red color insures good weathering qualities.
CF Red Bounty is exceptionally uniform and offers very good head exertion. It performs well under both dry land and irrigation, maintains green healthy plants under stress and threshes so easy and clean. CF Red Bounty adapts very well to a wide range of conditions and soil types and is our most popular grain sorghum hybrid.
CF Red Bounty should be planted 6# to 8# per acre.
Suggested seedling rates for CF Red Bounty:
- Dryland, lower rainfall or marginal ground 4# to 6# per acre.
- Heavier ground, better rainfall or irrigation 7# to 9# per acre.
Note: Higher seed rates will add height to plants and may add to stress, increasing potential for lodging problems.
CF Red Bounty approximate seed count...12,500.

SORGHUM SUDANGRASS/FORAGE SORGHUM
CF Cow Chow: Versatile Sorghum Sudan Hybrid
CF Cow Chow is a superior multi-purpose summer annual for grazing, hay, green chop, haylage, plowdown and cover crop. It has extremely good seedling and plant vigor. Under ideal conditions, CF Cow Chow grows extremely fast....sometimes 2" per day and under proper management can often carry 4 - 5 adult cattle per acre.
CF Cow Chow normally makes 3 - 5 cuttings, depending on nutrients, moisture, growing conditions and if properly cut between 2 and 3 feet in height (for maximum quality and protein). It adapts very well to all climate conditions and soil types. It also produces a very high leaf to stem ratio and has outstanding regrowth potential.
CF Cow Chow turns out enormous amounts of lush green foilage - highest protein during first half of growing season while maximum TDN at pre-boot stage (about 4 - 5 ft. tall). It also has profuse tillering ability (5 - 10 tillers per plant) and because it is high in sugar content and so palatable, livestock will leave other hay to clean up CF Cow Chow every time.
CF Cow Chow is an excellent summer annual crop with many uses for cattlemen, sheepmen and dairymen and is not recommended as feed for horses.
Note: Protein content always dependent on the following conditions:
- Stage of maturity when cut or grazed
- Moisture (rainfall)
- Fertility rate of each application
- Growing season conditions

Nutri + Plus BMR Hybrid Sorghum Sudan Grass
Nutri + Plus is a brown mid rib hybrid type 6 that is extremely digestible, palatable, and is more efficient. This BMR hybrid contains 20% less lignin content and makes this forage a viable option for a summer annual. It is very verstile as it can be used for excellent hay quality, heavy pasturing, and green chop. Nutri + Plus offers superior drought tolerance and has a wide area of adaptability.
- Sow 40-45 pounds for hay
- Sow 45-50 pounds for pasture
- Recommended height for hay is 20-40 inches
- 2-3 cuttings per year
- 3-5 dry tons per acre
- 18.9% average increase in feed value compared to conventional forage
- Offers an additional $42.84 dollars per acre based on feed at $60.00 per ton
Use caution after stress conditions due to prussic acid and nitrogen level buildups. Protein content will vary due to stage of maturity, fertility rate, moisture levels, and growing seasons conditions.
HAYKING HYBRID SUDANGRASS
This hybrid contains the brown midrib (BMR) gene that reduces the amount of lignin in the plant making it more digestible. A true hybrid sudangrass that offers reduced lignin, improved fiber digestibility, animal preference and palatability, and superior animal performance for you grazing or haying needs. You can direct pasture, green chop or silage, and make hay from Hayking Hybrid Sudangrass because of its fine leaves which will help in drydown.
Cattle will do well with Hayking and have a greater weight gain and also produce more milk when using this for pasture and or hay.
Management
- Plant after the danger of frost and soil temperatures exceeds 65 degrees.
- Drilled rates are 25 to 40 pounds per acre.
- Apply approximately 50-100 pounds of actual nitrogen per acre preplant and then 40-60 pounds after each harvest.
- Harvest at a height of 40-50 inches, leave 4-6 inches of stubble to promote fast regrowth and recovery, do not graze until it reaches at least 20” in height.
- Improved fall disease package for humid areas.
- Multiple harvests.
- Follow the same feeding precautions as with other forage sorghum to minimize the risk of prussic acid or nitrate poisoning.
